Moscow museum of modern art
The museum was opened on December, 15th, 1999. It took place in the house of the former manor of the end of XVIII century - a private residence of a merchant Gubin, constructed by architect Matvey Kazakov. The President of Russian academy of arts Z.K. Zeretely became the founder and the first director of a museum. Many exhibits in a museum collection - from his personal collection which has been presented by the owner in gift.
The museum represents the basic stages of formation and the further development of art of a vanguard direction. The most part of collection consists of Russian products, but, at the same time, the considerable section is devoted for works of foreign authors. For example, graphic sheets of Pablo Picasso, Juan Miro, sculptures of Salvador Daly, Armand, Anri Russo's painting, are included in a constant exposition.
Products of classics of Russian avant-guard of the beginning of the XX-th century are a historical part of a collection of a museum. Many of the presented exhibits are returned Z.K.Tsereteli from abroad - got at auctions and in prestigious galleries. These are painters: Kazimir Malevich, Mark Shagal, Nataly Goncharova, Michael Larionov, Aristarch Lentulov, Ivan Kljun, Olga Rozanova, Vladimir Tatlin, Robert Falk, Vasily Kandinsky, Paul Filonov, Boris Grigoriev, Aleksandry Ekster, Alexander Arhipenko's sculpture. Special value is represented by collection of works of Georgian artist-primitive Niko Pirosmani.
One of exposition sections is devoted creativity of artists of avant-guard of the second wave - to movement of nonconformism of 1960-1970. These are works of the masters nowadays widely known in Russia and abroad - Ilya Kabakov, Vladimir Nemuhin, Edward Steinberg, Vladimir Jakovlev, Anatoly Zverev, Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamida, Oscar Rabin, Michael Shvartsmana, Dmitry Krasnopevtsev, Oleg Tselkov and others.
Modern actual art of Russia is presented by products of Valery Koshljakova, Vladimira Dubosarskogo and Alexandera Vinogradova, Victora Pivovarova, Sergeya Shutova, Jurya Lejdermana. Except them there are in museum collection: installations, objects and photo made by Oleg Kulik, Konstantin Zvezdochetov, Igor Makarevich, Andrey Bartenev, Vladislav Mamysheva-Monro.
One of the brightest exhibits of a museum, along with a monumental sculpture, is the fragment of a ladder of Tour d'Eiffel, dismantled during its reconstruction. About hundred years this fragment of a ladder carried out utilitarian function, now is an exhibit of art-historical value.
